{"id":131,"date":"2010-10-24T10:40:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-24T14:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madprogrammer76.wordpress.com\/2010\/10\/24\/the-art-of-task-delegation"},"modified":"2013-12-15T21:18:15","modified_gmt":"2013-12-16T02:18:15","slug":"the-art-of-task-delegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/andrewpallant.ca\/wordpress\/the-art-of-task-delegation\/","title":{"rendered":"The Art of Task Delegation"},"content":{"rendered":"Delegation is a tough skill to master. \u00a0Many mangers have trouble delegating tasks to employees because they have trouble giving up control. \u00a0 A good manager knows their strengths and the amount of work load they can handle without stressing. \u00a0 A good manager also knows their employees strengths. \u00a0Use those strengths to your advantage. \u00a0Through the art of delegation, you can harness the skills you don’t have and reduce your stress by reducing your work load. \u00a0Delegation of tasks does not mean you are no longer responsible for the task, it only means that you are now managing. \u00a0You are still responsible for quality of the work done by the person you delegated the task to. \u00a0You still deserve credit for getting the work done, the only difference is you should be sharing the credit with the people who helped you.<\/p>\n
Tips for Delegating Work<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Know everyone’s strengths<\/li>\n
- Follow up with everyone who you delegated work to. \u00a0 Ensure they are on task and the quality it to your desire.<\/li>\n
- Delegate tasks only to the people you trust.<\/li>\n
- Use a calendar. \u00a0 Make sure you are following a schedule and that everyone knows the schedule.<\/li>\n
- Make sure everyone has the resources to get the job done.\u00a0<\/li>\n
- Provide your knowledge and share your experience.<\/li>\n
- Manage, manage, manage – this doesn’t mean you do the work.\u00a0<\/li>\n
- Share the glory, if you get praise, share the praise with those who helped.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
